Biggest leap: Turning my full attention to my own investments and businesses. Hobbies: Competitive tennis and training for CrossFit and HYROX events.
Personal mission: Building businesses and investments that grow over the long term. Personal motto: Prepare, measure, adjust, keep going.
Tennis taught me that results come from process. In college, I played Division I tennis at Trinity University and the University of Florida, where we competed in the NCAA team championship. Every match measured performance, exposed weaknesses and tested adjustments. When I moved into quantitative investing, I found the same structure: clear rules, testable assumptions and models challenged by actual results. The court and the markets reward the same habits: preparation, repetition, measurement and adjustment.
After graduating from the University of Florida in 1994, I returned to New York and founded TLT Enterprises in 1995, working in CFO, CIO and business development roles for companies in real estate, telecommunications and fashion. In 1998, I founded TLT Capital Corp. and TLT Atlantic Asset Management, with operations in New York and St. Thomas. Quantitative investing appealed to me because it offered a way to test investment ideas and evaluate risk systematically.
Fortius Capital is the private holding company I founded in Miami in October 2025 as the successor to TLT Ventures, which I established in 2008. Through it, I invest across private funds, specialty finance, residential real estate, quantitative trading, healthcare, consumer products and operating businesses. The industries look unrelated from the outside, but I approach them the same way: understand the numbers, find where the value is, evaluate the risk and decide based on analysis rather than momentum.
I began buying residential real estate in St. Thomas, in the U.S. Virgin Islands, in 2004 and later expanded into Florida, focusing on high-end homes. Since 2011, my portfolio has also included Section 8 housing investments across the country. Real estate suits my willingness to invest over a long time horizon. I look at cash flow, appreciation and diversification, and I'm comfortable waiting years for the result.
Competing has always been part of my life. After college, I trained in taekwondo, and from 2002 through 2008, I raced road bikes for New York teams. In 2008, I returned to competitive tennis, and by 2019, I was ranked in the top 30 nationally in the men's 45 division and sixth in Florida. Since 2025, I've been training for CrossFit and HYROX events. What keeps me going is the feedback. Every discipline gives you times, distances, rankings or results, so progress can be measured.
Miami is the center of my life now. It's where I run Fortius Capital, and it's home for me as the father of four children. Fatherhood has added another dimension to the long-term perspective that shapes how I approach investments and businesses. For decades I worked where results were measured daily, in matches, races and markets. Today, my work and my life run on much longer timelines, and I balance the business with family and the sports I still compete in.
