Strategy and growth leader Tiffany Bassford, in brief.

Tiffany Bassford

Home: Washington, DC.  Age: 38.  Profession: Healthtech.  Organization: Capsule.  Title: General Manager.  Alma mater: University of Virginia.  Languages spoken: English, French, some Italian.

Current project: Reinvigorating my creative side and getting back into drawing again!  Recent recognition: From one of my direct reports: “Thank you for helping me find my voice and confidence!  Big difference between me in July and me today and I think a lot of that is you believing in me.” Recent professional development: Completed the CORe Program (Credentials of Readiness) through Harvard Business School online.  Latest accomplishment: We partnered with George Washington University Hospital to provide medication access for their hotel patients at-risk for Covid.  What’s been your big (or biggest) leap? Leaving my ten year consulting career in order to earn my master’s degree in Italy and completely change my career trajectory. Recent travel or adventure: Prior to Covid, I visited Tenerife and saw the milky way with my bare eyes. Incredible.  Last book read: Atlas of the Heart, by Brene Brown.

Personality profile: Ambitious, kind, genuine, positive, open. What one word or phrase would your closest friend use to describe you? Big-hearted.  What natural talent have you neglected? Dancing.  I used to do competitive ballroom dancing!

What three emojis best describe you? ☕🐱🍝.

What ingredient is essential to your perfect vacation? A clear blue ocean.  What is your go-to workout? My Peloton.  What movie have you repeatedly watched? The Devil Wears Prada. What is the best advice you received in your career? For any new adventure or transition, embrace that which you don’t like with as much gusto as that which you do.  What modern technology innovation do you most appreciate? FaceTime and video calls!  When I first lived in France as an undergrad, I had to call home on a pay phone in the middle of the main road.  We’ve come a long way!

What widely held belief do you reject? That you can sleep when you’re dead.  I followed that mantra early in my career and now I cherish my sleep.  What mega-trend most excites you? The dissolution of the idea that work needs to be 9 to 5 in an office.  I’ve long-been a proponent of a hybrid work model and am overjoyed that workers have realized their rights during the pandemic. I believe we are fully on our way to a more sustainable model of work.

What title would you choose for the movie about your life? Non-linear Diamonds.  What object would you first save from your  burning home? My two cats! How would you choose to spend tomorrow, if  ou knew it was your last day on earth? With friends and family, laughing and drinking wine over homemade pasta.  What advice would you give your younger self?Keep your heart and mind open to the unknown.  Let go of perfection and embrace the unfolding.

Favorite quote: "And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom" (Anais Nin).  Desired epitaph: And so she danced.
