Personality profile: INFJ (Advocate: Introverted, Intuitive, Feeling, Judging). How do you define a perfect friendship? A great friend feels close even if geographically apart, has my back, can laugh and cry with me, enjoys talking about the meaning of life and dislikes gossip as much as I do, and is always up for the next adventure. How do you define an ideal business relationship? Trust and open communication, passion for innovation, courage to change and a shared belief that investing in people is essential for success. What is your greatest joy? Watching my son grow and thrive. What occupation, other than your own, do you most admire? Entrepreneurs working on tech for social good. What is your favorite place (or way) to spend money? Bookstores (virtual or brick and mortar) and apothecaries. What is at the top of your bucket list? The Inca Trail. How do you relieve stress? Meditation and walks in nature.
What was your first paying job? Massage therapist and translator (English to Portuguese). What was your favorite college course? Physiology (how the body works). What movie have you repeatedly watched? Out of Africa. What’s the best advice you received growing up? The word “crisis” comes from the Greek and means "growth". Embrace it (from my mother, when I was 15). What’s the best advice you received in your career? Soft skills are often more important than technical skills. The latter are easier to learn. A successful team has people with soft kills that complement each other. What personal circumstance has had the greatest influence on your life? My mother’s death from cancer when she was only 46 years old. It made me turn from wildlife research towards cancer research and defined my career.
To disseminate the application of mindset tools for healing and health.
What change would you like to see in the world? Less fear, greater compassion. What mega-trend most excites you? Artificial intelligence for the greater good. What mega-trend most concerns you? The rise of absolutist leaders, the fragility of democracy and the backward movement on human rights.
After your loved ones, what object would you first save from your burning home? My old photographs. What advice would you give your younger self? You are a human being, not a human doing. What day in your life would you choose to re-live? The birth of my son (maybe with fewer hours in labor!). What period in your life would you do differently, if you could? None. My mistakes are my greatest teachers.
