Spending time with my family, staying active and taking time to recharge.
What was your favorite college course? Human physiology. It deepened my appreciation for how the body functions and reinforced my interest in medicine. What’s the best advice you received growing up? Treat everyone with kindness and respect. What modern technology innovation do you most appreciate? Electronic health records. A complete medical history helps physicians make informed decisions and provide more coordinated care. What company or organization do you most admire? UNICEF, for its commitment to protecting the health, well-being and rights of children around the world.
What change are you working on to effect in your profession or field?
Making pediatric care more accessible and family-centered, with parents informed, supported and empowered as partners in their children’s health.
What change would you like to see in the world? Every child having access to quality healthcare and a safe, supportive environment in which to grow. What message do you want to send out into the world? Lead with kindness, listen with empathy and never underestimate the difference you can make in someone else’s life.
What title would you choose for the movie about your life? A Life of Caring. Who would you like to spend an evening with, in heaven? My father-in-law. As a kid, what did you first want to be when you grew up? I always wanted to be a pediatrician. What advice would you give your younger self? Trust the journey, be patient with yourself and never stop learning. The relationships you build and the lives you touch will be far more meaningful than any single achievement.
