Current project: Expanding my practice to provide patients with the latest urological advancements in the outpatient setting.  Recent professional development: Transitioned from running my practice from a local multi-specialty surgery group to forming my own independent medical practice.  What’s been your big (or biggest leap)? Moving from Toronto, Canada, to California to start a new career as a urologist.  Hobbies: Guitar, golf, travelling, hiking.  Recent travel or adventure: Backpacking through South America for six months.  Last book read: The Bakersfield Sound: How a Generation of Displaced Okies Revolutionized American Music. Recently viewed and recommended: Online videos about music theory.

Personality profile: Driven, optimistic, empathetic, innovative, professional.  Moral compass: Always strive to do the right thing, even if it is the hard thing.  How do you define a perfect friendship? Shared values, deep-rooted respect, mutual trust, and unfettered comradery.  What is your greatest joy? Spending quality time with my kids and watching them grow up.  What is your guilty pleasure? Chinese dim sum and hot pot, Japanese shabu-shabu.  What natural talent have you neglected? Pencil sketching.  What is your favorite place (or way) to spend money? Traveling and exploring the world (mandatory culinary component).  How do you relieve stress? Working out with weights and going for long walks.

What was your first paying job? Working at the drive-thru counter at Swiss Chalet.  What was your favorite college course? Introduction to Archaeology and Paleoanthropology.  What was your favorite childhood toy or game? Basketball pickup games with my friends after school. What’s prominently featured on your home or office wall? Pictures of California-inspired images and landscapes.  What modern technology innovation do you most appreciate? The internet.  What is your go-to source of news and information? Clips on my YouTube feed, supplemented by articles sent to me by friends and colleagues.

What is your big idea?

A solution to the universal frustration of not being able to find your golf ball when you know you’ve hit a great shot.

What change would you like to see in the world? For people to start focusing more on their similarities than their differences.  What message do you want to send out into the world? Treat others the way that you would want to be treated.  What widely held belief do you reject? That a watch is only for telling time.  What mega-trend most concerns you? The reliance that younger people have on technology.

Who would you like to spend an evening with, in heaven? My paternal grandfather.  As a kid, what did you first want to be when you grew up? I really wanted to be Leonardo, the blue Ninja Turtle.  After your loved ones, what object would you first save from your burning home? My family portraits.  How would you choose to spend tomorrow, if you knew it was your last day on earth? Spending quality time with my family.  What advice would you give your younger self? Don’t lose sight of the forest for the trees.  What day in your life would you choose to re-live? Two: the birth of each of my sons.
