Emmy Award and Peabody Award-nominated journalist Cleo Stiller, in brief.

Cleo Stiller

Home: Denver and New York.  Birthplace: New York City.  Profession: Journalist, author and speaker.  Title: Emmy Award and Peabody Award-nominated journalist.  Preferred pronouns: She/Her/Hers.

Current project: Exploring the potential of the hybrid work model as the humanist and feminist movement our generation needs.  Recent recognition: The maternal health tech startup I consult for was recently spotlighted at the White House Maternal Day of Action.  Latest accomplishment: That same startup was named as a 2022 Disruptor winner in Top 50 in Digital Health Awards.  Latest contribution to others: In memory and honor of Ahmaud Arbery, donating $1 for every mile I run to social justice causes.  Hobbies: Learning to ski, rock climb, and enjoy the little things.  Recent travel or adventure: As a recent transplant from NYC to Denver, Colorado is every day a new adventure for this city girl!  Last book read: Designing Your Life: How to Build a Well-Lived, Joyful Life, by Bill Burnett and Dave Evans.  Recently viewed and recommended: I’m enjoying Euphoria, and I really don’t care what that says about me.

Personality profile: Enneagram 3, also known as The Achiever.  That’s shorthand for “no rest for the weary” 🙂.  What one word would your closest friend use to describe you? Great listener, an excellent memory (maybe too good?).  How do you define an ideal business relationship? One where the needs of both individuals are met with kindness, humor and compassion.  What occupation, other than your own, do you most admire? Healers of all kinds — therapists, doctors, chiropractors and teachers (God bless you!).  What is your go-to workout? Running with a friend.

What’s featured prominently on your office wall? Posters from my television show on Univision, from my first book with Simon & Schuster and a comic book version of myself made by a talented fan.  What movie have you repeatedly watched? The Big Chill.  What is the best advice you received in your career? Run your own race.  Very hard to stick to in the age of FOMO and social media, but a true secret to happiness.  What modern technology innovation do you most appreciate? Google Maps.  I have a terrible sense of a direction, but a love of travel and adventure.

What is your big idea?

The question of our time isn’t, “What would a good man do in this situation?” or, “What would a good woman do?”  The question of our time is, “What would a good person do?”  And that should be your compass.

What mega-trend most concerns you? Remote work.  What widely held belief do you reject? Make America Great Again.

What title would you choose for the movie about your life? And Just Like That…  What actor would you choose to play you in the movie about your life? Charlize Theron.  What? A girl can dream! How would you choose to spend tomorrow, if you knew it was your last day on earth? I talked about this with friends over holiday break after watching Don’t Look Up.  This is so easy for me: I’d go home and spend time with my family, share a wonderful, rich meal together and (just between you and me) I’d smoke a cigarette, too.  Only if it’s my last day, anyway!

Personal mission: To encourage health, education and positive social action around the world. Personal motto: Firm with intention, flexible with form.
