Home: San Francisco, CA.  Age: Older now than I’ve ever been before.  Profession: Formerly, in charge of all things compliance for life sciences & SaaS companies: regulatory, security, privacy, and quality issues.  Currently pivoting to being co-founder & CEO of a SaaS startup.  Preferred pronouns: She/Her/Hers.  Alma mater: Babson College (MBA), UC Santa Cruz (BA).

Current project: Launching my Future of Work SaaS startup.  Hobbies: Oil painting, 4WD camping, SCUBA diving, wine tasting.  Recent travel or adventure: Visited Scottsdale, AZ for painting classes.  Recently viewed and recommended: Space Force.

Personality profile: Driven, analytical; INTJ.  What one word would your closest friend use to describe you? Tenacious.  What is your guilty pleasure? Quiet time with a silly book, like Bronwyn’s Bane or one of the Harry Potter series.  What ingredient is essential to your perfect vacation? A ridiculously comfy bed for some solid sleep and a pool or beach with someone bringing me drinks and food.

What book have you repeatedly read? The Belgariad, a series of fantasy novels, by David Edding.  What movie have you repeatedly watched? Die Hard.  What is your favorite app? Calm.  The sleep stories and wisdom sessions are great!  What is your go-to source of news and information? New York Times.  What company or organization do you most admire? CooperVision.  They are an exceptionally well managed company that does right by their customers, employees and vendors while winning in the marketplace.  Dan McBride is a great role model for someone coming from a legal or compliance background and wanting to transition to CEO.

What is your big idea?

Communicating effectively and inclusively is tough and providing the feedback necessary to help people grow in their communication style can be even tougher.  No one wants to be branded as overly sensitive or the PC police.  With more and more communication taking place virtually, what can we do to enable private, personalized feedback to personnel in a way that offers actionable feedback?  My new company, Loquere, is building a tool for this.  We hope to foster a kinder, more inclusive environment and enable more effective soft skills coaching for employees.

What mega-trend most concerns you? Cryptocurrency.  I find it fascinating, but abhor the environmental impacts.

Who would you like to spend an evening with, in heaven? I really enjoyed reading Voltaire, so I’d love to have a conversation with him. How would you choose to spend tomorrow, if you knew it was your last day on earth? Swimming in the Caribbean, then FaceTiming my loved ones, and then enjoying one last awesome bone-in ribeye with bearnaise sauce and a Plavac Mali.  What period in your life would you do differently, if you could? College.  I skipped high school and, when I got to college, I got frustrated with math and studied history, instead.  I wish I had been more patient and had taken the time to catch up on the math and then go into engineering and economics.

Personal mission: To enjoy life and leave the world better than I found it. Personal motto: Leave it better than you found it. Favorite quote: "You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take" (Wayne Gretzky).
